Tuesday was National Flag day and a ceremony organized by Every Step Hospice and the Knoxville Area Ministerial Association was held in Knoxville. Members of the American Legion and VFW presented the colors at the ceremony.  Knoxville American Legion Post 168 Commander Curt Froyen spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about what Flag Day means to him.

“As a veteran and veteran I serve in the American Legion post with and being in the military, the flag takes on a very special meaning. When I see the flag at a military funeral and when I see the flag folded and presented to the family of that soldier, it truly is a sacred honor to serve. When I see the flag, I also think how fortunate we are to live in a country with the freedoms we have.”

The American Legion and The VFW were also presented with a metal flag made by the Knoxville Highschool Industrial Arts Class that will be hung up at either The American Legion or the VFW.
