The American Rivers Conference spring sports all-academic team was announced Wednesday and 44 Central College student-athletes were honored for their academic and athletic excellence.

To qualify for the distinction, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with one year at his/her current school, achieve a 3.5 GPA or better and be on the team’s eligibility list.

The women’s track and field team had 20 selections, while the men’s team had 10. The softball and men’s tennis programs had five apiece, baseball had three honorees and the men’s golf team had one. 

Six senior student-athletes were recognized for the third time. Men’s tennis player Tanner Finken, baseball pitcher Marcus Wenzel, women’s track and field athlete Krissa Larson, and men’s track and field athletes Will DeHaan, Nick Thompson, and Carter Tryon were cited for the third time in their careers.
