Each summer the City of Pella releases an annual water quality report to highlight any changes to the quality coming to homes and businesses in the community. According to the document, the city reports that tap water met all U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and statewide drinking water health standards. Following a major overhaul of the Water Treatment Plant late in the past decade, the city reports that using the Cambrian-Ordovician or Jordan Sandstone aquifer as a water source means less opportunity for contamination.
