The Melcher-Dallas Diamond Squads were in action on Saturday with varying results. The softball squad traveled to Orient-Macksburg for two games and came home with a split, losing to Mormon Trail 8-4 and pounding Lenox 17-7. Errors plagued the softball Saints in game one against Mormon Trail as Melcher-Dallas committed six mistakes and allowed 12 hits. Saydi Benz took the loss, pitching six innings. In game two, the Saints routed Lenox 17-7. The game started off wild enough as it was 9-6 after one inning. But the Saints only allowed the Tigers one more run after and run-ruled the game after five. Emma Clark got the win striking out three. The baseball Saints were swept at ACA on Saturday losing to the host Eagles 10-0 and falling to Colo-NESCO 19-4. The Saints were limited to just one hit in game one and in game two allowed six runs in the 3rd and 5th innings. Both Melcher-Dallas squads head to East Union on Monday.
