The summer teams of Pella High School enter a critical period for postseason seeding with a pair of winnable doubleheaders against improved Newton teams on the road Monday evening.
Pella’s softball team is seeking the season series over the Cardinals after winning a wild walk-off on June 2nd, and Head Coach Katie Gravert knows the team is capable of competing well and finding wins to exceed the 2021 win total they matched with a walk-off vs. Pella Christian last week.
The Dutch baseball team finds themselves needing a lot of wins this week to improve their standing in Class 3A Substate 7 — Newton is also in that potential bracket. With losses to those Cardinals, as well as Grinnell and Knoxville, and victories against Bondurant-Farrar and Carlisle, this week could prove to be crucial for the upcoming seeding meeting, according to Head Coach Jesse Jablonski.
Pella’s baseball and softball teams begin varsity competition in Newton Monday at 5:30 p.m.
