While Families First in Pella is in between their spring and autumn parenting classes, the organization is focusing on encouraging literacy activities and other ways to strengthen the bond between parents and children.
Director Allison Kerndt says they provide two semesters of classes in the afternoon and evenings for parents to learn more about their children at different stages through the Love and Logic program, with the goal to expand those opportunities in the coming year. Last week, Families First of Pella co-sponsored Thursdays in Pella, which has become an annual tradition for the non-profit organizations
Families First of Pella also recently partnered with Jasper, Marion, Poweshiek Early Childhood Iowa Area to provide 200 “Books for Babies” bags to the Obstetrics Department at Pella Regional Health Center in May. Bags included a board book, silicone bib, information about Families First and the Pella Public Library, Reading Tips for Babies, an article about The Importance of Play, and a Library Card Application.
