Barring any potential congressional action, lunch and breakfast fees will return for the first time since March 2020 in the Pella Community School District and others across the region. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the prices that were in place before COVID-19 relief made meals free will return after approval by the Pella School Board last week. The price will remain at $2.85 per lunch and $1.50 per student breakfast, with snacks for pre-K at $27.5 and kindergarten at $55 for the year, with recess milk for the whole year at $54 for pre-K and $90 for K-5. All other registration fees remained the same for the upcoming school year for the exception of slight increases for elementary and high school yearbooks. Families that meet certain income requirements may also still qualify for free or reduced lunch fees if they fill out an application.
