Another day, another sweep for the red-hot Norwalk softball team.
The Class 4A fifth-ranked Warriors won both ends of a doubleheader for the second straight night and fifth time on the season Tuesday, making quick work of Des Moines Roosevelt by scores of 13-1 and 14-2 – both in four innings.
Zadie Wadle, who struck out six, and Kady Vandemark were the winning pitchers for Norwalk, which scored between four and six runs in five separate frames.
The Warriors improved to 21-4 overall and Roosevelt dropped to 4-18.
Game one saw Nyah Hulbert and Wadle both have three-hit games while Morgan Weeks and Vandemark added two hits each. In the night cap, Kaylee Cary, Vandemark, Weeks and Maddie Gullion all had multiple base hits.
Norwalk will host Newton tonight at 7:30 p.m. looking to maintain its first-place tie with No. 6 Dallas Center-Grimes in the Little Hawkeye Conference standings. The Warriors swept the Cardinals on June 6 in Newton, winning 8-0 and 2-0.
The Norwalk baseball team, which had Tuesday night off, will also host Newton Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on FM 94.3 KNIA, with pregame coverage starting at approximately 7:15.
The Warriors swept Oskaloosa on Monday, improving to 16-10 overall and 8-7 in the Little Hawkeye. Newton stands at 10-10 overall and 6-8 in league play. Norwalk swept a doubleheader at Newton June 6, winning 3-1 and 6-0.
