The Knoxville Municipal Airport has seen an increase in helicopter traffic recently. Knoxville Municipal Airport Manager Dan Van Donselar spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the increased traffic.

“We had some increased traffic recently as Air Methods, the people that operate the Mercy One out here have been doing training so they can switch over to their new helicopters. They have been transferring crews through here every week to get training in the new helicopter. We also have had quite a few ag customers who have been getting things prepped in the shop and have been going out for testing and tuning of their equipment, so that is why people have been seeing more helicopters than normal.”

The airport is home to Knoxville Aviation, which does jet fuel sales, helicopter and fixed-wing maintenance, and flight instruction and rental aircraft.
