The Knoxville City Council approved a resolution supporting Cartwright Properties’ application for Workforce Housing Tax credits for the East Village Housing project. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the resolution.
“Cartwright Properties purchased the remaining lots of the East Village from the Knoxville Economic Development Commission recently and he will be applying for Workforce Housing Tax Credits. This is similar to funding KDC received for the homes that are currently going up in the East Village and for the ones they had put up a few years ago. Cartwright Properties is looking to apply for the credits for four homes and as a part of that application, it is beneficial for them to have a resolution from the local authority stating they are in support of the project. Council passed the resolution so they can submit that with their application.”
The next City Council meeting is scheduled for July 5 in the Municipal Building Council Chambers.
