The Pella softball team struggled to keep the 6th ranked team in Class 4A off the scoreboard in a pair of losses 19-6 and 16-4 against DCG Thursday, with game two heard on 92.1 KRLS.
Pella gave up 15 runs in the first two innings of the softball twin bill, and while they fought back, they fell to the five-inning mercy rule. In game two, the Dutch started with a 3-0 lead, only for five straight at bats with a walk or hit-by-pitch for the Mustangs to turn into a six-run inning. DCG would score seven to follow that frame up.
The Dutch fall to 9-17 overall and 5-12 in the Little Hawkeye Conference and are off until the Collins-Maxwell tournament Saturday. The Pella baseball team is trying to finish their seeding resume and find the season series over DCG in a doubleheader tonight — catch game two on KRLS.
