The Knoxville City Council this week set a public hearing for July 5 to approve a rezoning application for a portion of the former VA Property. Knoxville Economic Development Director Glenn Lyons spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the application.
“This is part of the development process in Phase One as we are proposing the development of a park with a splash pad and a subdivision with 34 lots. As a part of this process, we have to rezone the area in order to accommodate those plans. Some of the land used in the planning concept called for townhouses with garages on the back. We had to rework the subdivision and the zoning in order for us to accommodate the concept.”
The preliminary plat for the subdivision has been approved by the Planning Commission and the final plat should be presented to the council in August.
