Today is the last day for Indianola School District Superintendent Art Sathoff before retiring. Sathoff announced his intention to retire to the Indianola School Board in 2021, after which a lengthy search was conducted over the course of the next several months. Sathoff tells KNIA News one of the best parts of the job has been being a part of the staff at Indianola schools.
“We have so many quality people in every building and in every department. That is not an exaggeration. I hold our transportation department up as an example. I’ll write a bus driver a birthday card and tell them you are part of the best transportation department around, and nothing is more important than safely transporting our kids to and from school, and I totally believe that. We have such a good transportation department. I could say the same thing for food service, maintenance, our associates, our teaching staff, our admin team, there are just so many good people. And it’s a great place to work, Indianola is a wonderful town. There are a lot of good things happening in this district, we pay well, so we attract good people and we keep them.”
Ted Ihns will officially take over as Superintendent beginning tomorrow after working in the district for the last several weeks.
