Third and fourth graders who are interested in football and looking for an alternative to tackle football will have the chance to play this August. Tyler Pearson spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the new league.
“Knoxville NFL Flag is a new flag option for kids. In the first year, we are going to start with third and fourth graders to gauge interest in Knoxville. The league is coed and open to kids in Knoxville and surrounding communities. It’s NFL Flag so it is what you see during the NFL Pro Bowl and at halftime of the Super Bowl with kids playing flag football. We are excited about an option that is a little less contact with all of the research about putting helmets on kids too early and concussions. We want to provide an option for kids to play football with less contact.”
Registration is open until July 29 and the cost is $50. For more information click here.
