The Norwalk High School softball team took care of business Saturday night defeating Cedar
Rapids Xavier 5-1 in the Class 4A Region 6 Semi-final.

The Warriors were led on the night by Ace pitcher Zadie Wadle who only surrendered one run on two hits in 7 innings of work. The game was scoreless through four innings until a one out walk in the 5th was followed up by a Kaylee Cary 2 run home run that would give the Warriors the lead they would never relinquish.

Head Coach Beau Livingston tells KNIA Sports he actually was trying to have Cary bunt to move the runners over but she got to a favorable count and she delivered a gem.

Norwalk would pad their lead with another run in the fifth to make it 3-0 before Xavier would scrape across a run of their own in the 6th inning to tighten the game up. Norwalk would strike right back with two more runs coming in the 6th inning following a pair of walks that were followed by an RBI single from Zadie Wadle and a bunt RBI single from Bailey Birmingham to push the lead to the eventual winning score of 5-1

Norwalk will now move on to play in the Class 4A Region 6 Final Tuesday against Benton following Benton’s 6-0 win over Charles City in the other Class 4A Region 6 Semi-final.
