Pella’s defense faltered Saturday night in a 9-2 softball loss to #1 Winterset in a class 4A regional semifinal as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The Dutch committed five errors in the second and third innings combined as the Huskies scored all nine runs in those two frames to take control.

Pella kept fighting, scoring a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Katie Pollock and one more in the sixth on an Ava Curry solo home run.

Saige DeJong was saddled with the loss, throwing the first two-plus innings in the circle, while Kiki Riggen allowed just one hit while throwing five scoreless innings in relief.

Pella closes the 2022 season with a 14-22 record.
