The #6 Indianola softball team defeated Glenwood 12-2 in five innings to advance to the class 4A state tournament in Fort Dodge Tuesday evening as heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Indians fell behind early 1-0, but scored 11 runs over the next four innings to take a commanding lead before ending it in the fifth in a walkoff.
The Indians offense produced 18 hits including two home runs, two triples, and two doubles as Izzie Benge struck out nine Rams batters. The Indians will play Dallas Center-Grimes Monday at 5pm.
#4 Norwalk had to muster an improbable comeback in their regional final against Benton. Trailing 6-2 in the bottom of the seventh, the Warriors scored five runs to win the contest and advance to play #5 Carlisle Monday at 3:30pm.
Five Warren County teams made it to the state tournament in class 4A and 1A, as Indianola, Norwalk, and Carlisle are joined by Southeast Warren and Martensdale-St. Mary’s.
