The Knoxville School Board heard a presentation on the Handle With Care Program the district has started. Knoxville Police Officer Kyle Keller spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the program.

“We started the program this past school year and what it does is bridge the gap between inside and outside of school for kids. Kids today are going through a lot, especially at home, and staff at school may not know about these issues. This program helps that out as the school will be notified that a student had something happening and that they need a little extra attention today or if it is something significant, then the student may need extra resources outside of school.”

This was the first year of the program and statistics will be available early Fall to see how the program has helped. For more with Officer Keller about the program, tune in to Monday’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
