The Pella Christian baseball team enjoyed their first 3-0 start to a season since 2016, and it was highlighted by their first win in four years over Little Hawkeye Conference foe Norwalk on May 23rd.

In the early season matchup, the Eagles fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning and that score held until the top of the sixth. Bennett Spronk then belted his first home run of the season to tie the game and ultimately sent it to extra innings. In the extra frame Pella Christian exploded for four runs, which was enough to earn the comeback victory. Eagles Head Coach Braden Shull said it was a big win to build the belief that this team could compete with anyone.

“I think just the confidence that comes from a win like this throughout your whole season, I mean, this is a team that’s gonna compete well in (Class) 4A and having a win early like this just gives us confidence.”

Pella Christian finished the season with a 9-19 overall record and 4-16 Little Hawkeye Conference record.
