While most of Pella High School will have a new heating and cooling system to start the school year, two key areas in the building will need to wait. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says there will be no air conditioning in the Pella High School gym or auditorium to begin classes in August due to supply chain issues keeping key components out of the hands of contractors on site. Ebeling says the west, older gym will have air conditioning as an option for practices, but it will likely continue to be warm for varsity volleyball games until sometime in September — which has not been uncommon as the east gym had no air conditioning option prior to this fall. Despite the delays, Ebeling says most construction for the overall bond issue remains mostly on schedule heading into the new school year.
