A postseason run to remember came to a quick halt Monday, as the Dutch fell to #1 Davenport Assumption 11-1 in six innings in the Class 3A State Quarterfinals, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The Knights’ deep and talented lineup was too much for Pella to contain, scoring in five of six innings, compounded by three Dutch errors. Pella gave up five runs in the 5th inning that ultimately sealed their fate, and top-seeded Assumption scored twice in the 6th to walk off with the mercy rule. Pella Seniors Cole Hillman and Jason Knox both say they were unable to reclaim the magic mix that got them to the final eight teams, but they were also proud of how far this group of Dutch made it.

FULL INTERVIEW WITH COLE/JASON:

Isaiah Kettler finished 2-for-3 with a 2B and Jason Knox had the lone Dutch RBI, and also gave up six runs–four earned, in 4 2/3 innings and received the loss.

Pella finishes at the state tournament for the 4th time in school history and says farewell to four seniors.
