Two Norwalk baseball players have been named to the Class 4A South Central All-District teams this week by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Warrior junior Ian Fisher was selected as a First Team Pitcher while senior teammate Vinny Mauro earned a Second Team Utility spot. There were 15 players cited on each team.

Fisher and Mauro both rank among the top five strikeout pitchers in Class 4A with 95 and 86, respectively. Together, they helped lead the Warrior baseball team to an 18-18 overall record and a 9-12 mark in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

Fisher, who fired a five-inning perfect game against Oskaloosa on June 20, finished 7-1 with a 1.05 earned run average and a WHIP of just 0.75. In 60 total innings, Fisher allowed just 34 hits and 11 walks while striking out 95. Opponents batted just .144 against him.  At the plate, he batted .233 with eight doubles, 12 RBI and an on-base percentage of .331.

Mauro had a hard-luck 2-4 record on the mound with a 2.61 ERA. He pitched 56 ⅓ innings, notching 86 Ks against just 12 walks. Mauro batted .287 with seven doubles, one triple, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored. His on-base percentage was .360.
