A Special Olympics softball team has been organized in Pleasantville. Jesse Smith started the team in mid-July. There are currently 13 players on the team from places like West Des Moines, Carlisle, Pleasantville, and Lucas County. The players range in age from 10 years through 42-years of age. The team practices each Friday and occasionally more often.
Jesse is a former baseball player at Pleasantville, and he enjoys working with the team of Special Olympic athletes. Currently, Smith is looking at trying to get a league formed.
