A road closure starts soon northeast of Pella. Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says bridge approaches will be replaced at the Skunk River on T-22, or Sully Road, beginning July 25th between Carpenter Drive and Dakota Drive.

Christian says the project is expected to take two weeks to complete, and the detour will take individuals either up or down Highway T-14 north of Pella and reconnect them at either Dakota Drive to the south or to S 124th Avenue East in Jasper County.

“The detour is fairly significant,” he says. “There are a number of homes, residences, and farms that are impacted by this closure if they are traveling to and from Pella. An 11-mile detour is fairly significant. Currently, we have the closure scheduled from July 25th through August 5th, so two weeks to repair and replace the bridge approaches on each side of the Skunk River bridge, however, we’re hoping to do it in a quicker time frame and get the road reopened as soon as possible.”
