The Pleasantville track and field squads kick off our countdown of the Trojans top 10 sports moments of 2021-2022, as on May 12th, they had four individuals and two relay teams qualify for the State Meet at Drake Stadium.
Alex Blackford in the long jump was the lone automatic qualifier, placing 2nd at the PCM qualifying site with a leap of 15 feet 2.25 inches.
Pleasantville additionally had three individuals and two relay teams qualify as at-large bids based on their times at the PCM State Qualifying Meet. Amy Kish finished just one spot away from automatically qualifying for the 100- and 200-meter dashes but got in with one of the top 24 finishing times in Class 2A.
Coming in sixth in the 200-meter dash at the State Qualifier, Blayton Nilles managed to make it to state. Ross Stephens was just .18 seconds away from being an automatic qualifier in the 110-meter hurdles but made it to Drake Stadium with a top 24 run in Class 2A. The Trojans Girls 4×100 relay teams came in third in their qualifying race but got at-large berths to the State Meet as well.
At the State Meet for the Trojans Girls on May 19th-21st, Blackford came in 24th in the Long Jump, while Kish was 21st in the 200-meter dash (:27.91) and 24th in the 100-meter dash (:13.86). The girls 4×100 meter relay team of Rayne Olson, Amy Kish, Sophia Mason, Alex Blackford brought home the Trojans top finish at State coming in 13th place with a time of :51.71.
Blayton Nilles finished 16th in the 200-meter dash (:23.40), and Ross Stephens was 23rd in the 110-meter hurdles (:16.37).
