Counting down the top 10 moments of the Indianola athletics year of 2021-22, continuing with number 7.
It was a special night in December, as Indianola senior Lauren Blake became just the fifth member in Indianola High School Girls Basketball history to join the 1,000 point club in a win over Pella Christian.
Blake scored 32 points that night to lead the Indians to victory, and led the Indians on a 44-12 run that completed a comeback after trailing in the first half, and said joining the 1,000 point club was a dream come true.
“Those are four players I’ve looked up to my whole life. Being out there with coach Busby and my mom, that’s awesome. Two people I’ve been with every day and are some of my biggest role models, and Grace and Madie I watched ever since I was little, growing up and playing, I always wanted to be like them so just to be out there was crazy and surreal. I wouldn’t want to be out there with anyone else, it was really fun.”
Lauren takes a spot in the coveted 1,000 point club along with mom Abbie Blake, assistant coach Jamie Busby, Madie Sorensen, and Grace Berg.
