When you talk about Twin Cedars sports, especially for the last three seasons, you cannot mention sports without talking about Rylee Dunkin. The multi-sport athlete for the Sabers has been All-State in cross country, and softball, and has had a major hand in any team’s success for Twin Cedars. Our top five moment for the Sabers came this past spring at, appropriately enough, the Blue Oval as Dunkin qualified for three events at the State Track and Field Meet. She qualified for the 800, 1500, and the long jump. Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS Sports she was proud to be at State and had a goal of making the most of after a rough spring that her and her teammates did not get a lot of events in.
Dunkin: “It’s always a blast to come to the Blue Oval, and it’s an experience to be here. It’s been a tough season trying to get a meet in back home, and competing against bigger schools, but I just had the attitude that I’m coming up here to do my best and wherever I placed I would be happy about it.”
Dunkin finished 20th in the 800 in a time of 2:33.61, she was 16th in the 1500 in a time of 5:14.28, and 13th in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet 8.5 inches. More on Dunkin in another sport, and a team she played on later in the countdown.
