Leading up to the 175th celebration of Pella’s anniversary, a local organization has been highlighting the founding of the Tulip City in series of Facebook posts. Bruce Boertje with Historic Pella Trust says they’ve been working to educate the community about how just over 900 Dutch immigrants formed the community its more than 10,000 residents now enjoy today.

Historic Pella Trust is opening the Tuttle Cabin at 608 Lincoln Street on Friday, August 5 from 1-4 and Saturday, August 6 from 10-2 as part of the 175th anniversary. Some of their Pella Preservation Board will be at the cabin to answer history questions. Tuttle is air-conditioned and free will donations are appreciated. Tuttle Cabin is the location that Dominie Scholte purchased from Thomas Tuttle for the middle of future Pella.
