A sport continues to grow in Pella, with more tournaments occurring and residents learning the game.

Bobbi Slagter says pickleball combines elements of tennis, ping pong, and badminton, and has a committed group locally playing for fun and competition.

Slagter says what makes pickleball special is it allows most age groups to play — and those who enjoy the game in Pella cover a wide range of abilities.

Locally, the returning Dinking Dutch Pickleball Tournament will be August 28th at the Pella Christian Courts. Cost is $50 per team for adults and $10 for kids. There will be six divisions with all adult brackets pool play.
