The Iowa Farm Service Agency, a division of the federal government Department of Agriculture, is looking to fill several different technician positions in Warren County. Iowa Farm Service Agency Executive Director Matt Russell tells KNIA News the agency is facing the retirement of a generation of workers who made working at the FSA their careers and served for decades.

“Part of the reason we have these openings is in 1985 we had a major shift in federal farm policy, on conservation and other things during the farm crisis, and we expanded and hired a lot of people. Those folks are now eligible to retire and starting to retire. We’ll hire in the next couple of years. We’ll hire a couple hundred people, because people got hired and made a whole career out of it and are now retiring after 30-40 years of service.”
