When fans enter the Pella Christian gym for the first volleyball game of the season on September 6th, they’ll be greeted by a brand-new scoreboard and videoboard.

With the implementation of shot clocks in Iowa High School Basketball, the Eagles decided that it was time to upgrade their scoreboard and invest in a videoboard. Pella Chrisitan partnered with Daktronics to replace the scoreboard, and with De Vries Electric and Center Point Electric to install the videoboard. Eagles Athletic Director Dan Branderhorst said the new setup will allow them to do many different things.

“The videoboard itself is actually 8 feet tall by 15 feet wide, and that’s going to allow us to do so many things. We can run our advertisements that way so we can share the love to our sponsors and local businesses, but we can also do a variety of features like in game promotions, 3-point recognitions or blocked shots in volleyball or aces or that sort of thing. So, it’s really neat to be able to use the technology that way.”

Branderhorst added that the new scoreboard and videoboard setup is roughly five to six times larger than the previous one.
