The Norwalk football team will play five out of nine regular season games at home this fall as the Warriors look to build on last year’s six-win campaign.
Coach Paul Patterson’s team will open the 2022 season in 11 days, traveling to Pella for a non-district game on Friday, August 26. The non-district slate continues with home games against Des Moines Lincoln and defending Class 4A state champion Lewis Central and a September 16 contest at Dallas Center-Grimes.
The Warriors’ Class 4A, District 5 schedule begins September 23 with a home game against Boone and also includes home games vs. Perry on October 7 and Bondurant-Farrar in Week 9 October 21. Norwalk will play at Indianola on September 30 and at Carlisle October 14. All varsity games kick off at 7:30 p.m.
The Warriors won six of their first seven games in 2021, including a 45-30 home win over then-unbeaten Indianola in Week 6. They finished the regular season 6-3 overall and 3-2 in District 5 following losses to Carlisle and Bondurant-Farrar.
Norwalk tied for third place in the district but qualified for the playoffs with an at-large berth behind its number 12 ranking in the 4A RPI. The Warriors’ season ended with a first round playoff loss at Webster City and a final record of 6-4.
