Pella City Council will hold a public hearing for a zoning change on Liberty Street at their meeting this evening.

The first reading of an ordinance will be held for a rezoning application at 414 Liberty Street from Institutional to Neotraditional Single-Family Residential.

The council will make an award of contract for the Apron Expansion at the Pella Municipal Airport, with a bid from Pella Concrete Contractors for $778,883 approved at the August 2nd meeting. The first reading of a parking ordinance will also be held to remove on-street parking in the 700 Block of Peace Street.

New Pella Police Officer Mitchell Monarchino will be sworn in. Monarchino is a 2010 Central College graduate who worked in the Pella Community School District for 10 years as an IT professional before he was hired as a Des Moines Police Officer in September 2021.

The council will also receive an extensive update from Missouri River Energy Services about ongoing operations at the Hydroelectric Power Plant at Lake Red Rock. eggar’s Night in Pella will also be officially scheduled for Monday, October 31st.
