One of the areas that has already seen improvement for the Knoxville Football Squad over the offseason is the offensive line. The Panthers will have experience coming back this season which will hopefully open holes for runners and allow quarterback Noah Keefer to throw the ball. Coach Matt Dunkin, who himself was a lineman in his playing days for the Panthers, tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the offensive line is coming around and should develop into a solid core.

Dunkin: “I love offensive linemen and I think they’re the heart and soul of the team. We have Geroge Gilbert who is back this year, and Jack Bertrand, who is a big physical body, so we’re excited to have those guys back.”

Dunkin is also excited about Spencer Van Hauen. Dunkin says Van Hauen, who will be a junior this season, has put in the time over the offseason and is ready to take the next step on varsity. Knoxville fans can see all of the Panther teams this Friday with Meet The Panthers Night. The cross country squad will have an inter squad race at 5:00, with the volleyball squad having an inter squad scrimmage at 5:45 in the high school gym, then the scene shifts to Ken Locke Stadium for the Booster Club tailgate serving a meal for a freewill donation. The football squad will have an inter squad scrimmage with a marching band and dance team performance, introduce all sports teams, and awards recognition. Admission is free.
