It’s a homecoming for a longtime former employee of the Pella Community School District, and this time back in town, serving and protecting the public. New Pella Police Officer Mitchell Monarchino was sworn in by City Council Member Mark DeJong. Monarchino is a 2010 Central College graduate who worked in the Pella Community School District for 10 years as an IT professional before he was hired as a Des Moines Police Officer in September 2021. Monarchino starts work on Monday and will be on the full patrol rotation by the start of October.
