When Headstones Talk, a tour of the IOOF Cemetery featuring Indianola Cemetery residents talking about their lives and demise, takes place next weekend.
Organizer Elodie Opstad tells KNIA News When Headstones Talk features historical re-enactors in period dress discussing ten different stories of the lives and demise of former local residents and their contributions to the area and eventually buried in the cemetery.
When Headstones Talk is sponsored by the Indianola Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) with support by the Warren County Historical Society & Museum, and Indianola Parks and Recreation. The events will take place on Saturday, August 27th from 5:30 to 8pm, and Sunday, August 28th from 2-4:30pm. The IOOF Cemetery is south of Hwy 92 in Indianola on Highway 65/69. The event is free, however donations are encouraged to repair and resurrect old and fallen gravestones.
