The Indianola Kiwanis is celebrating their 65th anniversary of serving the Indianola area, and are inviting the community to come celebrate and learn more about the club and what they do. Susan Glick with Kiwanis tells KNIA News the celebration will include a come-and-go style where people can filter in and out, and offers a chance to get involved in many of the projects that Kiwanis runs such as building playgrounds, the installation of fishing docks, and partnering with other volunteer organizations in the area to accomplish large projects. Glick also said something everyone in the community can participate in is helping to feed those in the community who are in need.
“Just recently in 2016 we had some members who had an interest in establishing helping with hunger in the community, so we have a red barrel installed at Fareway and the HyVee, that people can put food in, non-perishable food they buy and add to it. Then we pick it up every couple of weeks and donate it to The Helping Hand, which then gets dispersed into the community.”
The reception will be held this Saturday at the Country Inn and Suites from 9-11am. For more information, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
