The Norwalk volleyball season will begin tonight with a home match against Class 4A fifth-ranked Bondurant-Farrar. The varsity game is expected to start at 7:15 p.m., preceded by a freshmen game at 5:00 p.m. and junior varsity action at 6:00.

The Warriors finished 23-18 overall last season and were a 4A regional finalist. The Bluejays were 32-8 a year ago, co-champs of the Raccoon River Conference and a 4A state qualifier. Bondurant-Farrar outlasted Norwalk in a five-setter to start the 2021 season.

Also opening the season today will be several Norwalk student-athletes who are members of the Des Moines Lincoln girls swim team. The Rails will host Marshalltown in a 5:30 p.m. dual at the Lincoln High School pool.

The Norwalk girls and boys cross country teams were originally scheduled to start the season today, but the Ankeny Centennial Invite at DMACC has been pushed back to Thursday, August 25, at 5:00 p.m.

The Warrior boys golf team, which placed fourth at last week’s Ankeny Centennial Jesse Peck Invitational, will play their second meet of the year Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., competing in a loaded 12-team Johnston Dragon Invitational at Jester Park Golf Course.
