What’s old is new on Eagle Lane as the run-heavy boys from Pella Christian dominated the ground game to push by Des Moines Christian 56-28, as heard live on the KRLS2 stream Friday night.
The Eagles ran for over 500 yards and jumped to a 21-0 lead before a botched snap after a series of penalties opened the door for the road team Lions, who took advantage for their first score. Pella Christian had a Collin Vander Waal interception to open the 2nd half, and the Eagles kept the ground game going from there, despite a few big DMC pass plays, and kept a three-to-four score advantage for the duration.
Benny Schirz finished with five touchdowns and 215 yards and Isaac Kacmarynski rushed for 203 yards and two scores. Pella Christian improves to 1-0 and heads to Panorama next Friday.
