Those who want to vote absentee in the upcoming special election in Pella need to submit their request to do so by mail soon.
Extension of the City of Pella’s Local Option Sales and Service Tax is going before voters on Tuesday, September 13th.
According to the Marion County Auditor’s Office, anyone living in the city limits can request a mail-in ballot by Monday, August 29th when the Marion County Courthouse closes at 5 p.m.
However — anyone eligible to participate in the LOSST extension referendum can do so at the Marion County Auditor’s Office at 214 East Main Street in Knoxville during their regular hours until Monday, September 12th. Election day hours at the four Pella ward locations will run from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. — and all ballots must be received at their office by the end of the election that evening in order to be counted, including those by mail.
Voters can decide on September 13th with a simple majority yes or no to extend the currently existing one percent sales tax, which is used to fund quality-of-life and infrastructure projects in Pella and throughout the county based on a redistribution agreement with the Marion County Board of Supervisors and City of Knoxville.
