The ranked Pella cross country teams opened the fall season among a mix of 3A and 4A schools at Cedar Rapids Prairie Saturday morning.

In the team standings, the #13 in 3A Dutch girls placed 3rd behind #15 in 4A Waukee and the #13 ranked in 5A hosts, while the 3rd-ranked in 3A Dutch boys were in 5th behind meet winners Cedar Falls (#7 in 4A), Marion (#1 in 3A), Iowa City West (#8 in 4A), and Western Dubuque (#8 in 3A).

Chase Lauman (4th in 3A) led the Dutch with a 2nd place finish and Nathan VanderWaal (18th in 3A) was 5th among individual boys. Raegan Snieder (5th in 3A girls) was 6th among individuals, followed by Jacie Trine in 9th and Autumn Blink in 12th (ranked 23rd in 3A).

Both Pella teams ran their potential varsity 9th graders in a 4K race following the varsity competitions. Click here for full results. The Dutch cross country runners return to action at their home invitational on Sept. 3rd at Central College.

In Bondurant, the Pella volleyball team split their matches 3-3 overall at the Skip Anderson Classic. The Dutch won against Boone (2-1), Pella Christian (2-0), and Des Moines Roosevelt (2-1), and fell to Ames (1-2), Waverly-Shell Rock (0-2), and Williamsburg (1-2). Pella heads to Norwalk Tuesday to begin the conference season.
