Pella in Pink, presented by Pella Regional Health Center Foundation, will be in person this year after two years being held virtually due to COVID-19. The event will start at 2 pm on Sunday, October 2 at Cordova Park at Lake Red Rock with a remembrance ceremony, bounce houses for children, and a 1.2 mile trail hike. Foundation Coordinator at Pella Regional Amy Meyer says the goal of this event is to raise awareness of breast cancer and support expanding breast care programs at Pella Regional.
“Pella in Pink has been a huge part in growing our breast care services at Pella Regional,” says Meyer. “We now have a Breast Care Navigator who walks beside our patients and makes sure they have all the information and resources they need to make the best decision for them.”
Meyer says Pella Regional’s breast care program helps women access essential screening, diagnostic and treatment services close to home. Past support for Pella in Pink has helped the hospital offer digital mammography, breast ultrasound and bone density services in a comforting environment. Recently, they also began to offer surgical treatment and breast reconstruction under one anesthesia, through a partnership with general surgeons and a specialist in plastic surgery, with the goal to broaden the offerings locally to include advanced breast MRI, genetic testing options and coordinated care through the entire journey.
