The Pella Christian volleyball team opened Little Hawkeye Conference play on Tuesday and were swept by undefeated and Class 4A #14 ranked Indianola.

The Eagles got off to a great start in the match taking an early 7-2 lead in the first set, but the Indians would rally to ultimately win the set 25-17. The two teams then traded points back and forth through the early part of the second set. With the score knotted up at 10’s, Indianola went on 15-3 run to end the second set and take the 2-0 match lead. Pella Christian continued their great effort throughout the third set, but it wasn’t enough as the Indians finished off the sweep with a 25-21 win. Eagles head coach Tammi Wight said that she was pleased with how her team battled in the match and added that her young squad will continue to get better.

Pella Christian’s record fell to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play. They will now have to wait until Tuesday, September 6th to even their conference mark at 1-1, when they host Grinnell.
