The Pella volleyball team couldn’t find their footing in Norwalk to start the conference season, falling 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14) Tuesday evening on the road. A balanced Warriors offense and multiple Dutch errors were too much to handle for the road team featuring many athletes competing in their first league contest. Bryn Higginbotham finished with eight kills and four assisted blocks and Mia Warner tallied six kills for the Dutch, while Noelle Sutcliffe collected 11 kills and two aces to lead Norwalk. Pella falls to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and return to action on Tuesday, September 6th at home vs. Newton.

Pella Cross Country Trending Up in State Rankings
The Iowa Track Coaches Association released its first polls after competitions have started, and the Pella Cross Country teams are trending in the right direction after their first race at a competitive Prairie High School meet. The Dutch boys remained in 3rd and the girls leaped to 5th in Class 3A, and both did so without some talented freshman off of their first race roster as they participated in a 4K held in Cedar Rapids. Pella hosts its home invitational Saturday morning, with all athletes competing in a boys/girls 5K and several big and small schools coming to Central College.
