
Central College has announced changes among its faculty for the 2022-23 academic year.
Two assistant professors have earned tenure and promotion to associate professor:
– Tim Olin – history (B.A. and M.A., University of Wisconsin; M.A. and Ph.D., Purdue University).
– Sarah Van Waardhuizen – music (B.S., Drake University; M.A., University of Kansas; Ph.D., University of Iowa).
One professor has earned tenure:
– Ian Moschenross – music (B.A., Hanover College; M.A. and Ph.D., University of Nebraska).
One associate professor was promoted to professor:
– Mat Kelly – art (B.F.A., University of New Hampshire; M.F.A., Syracuse University). He has been with Central since 2007.
Seven new faculty will join Central in August 2022:
– Mary Donato – lecturer of communication studies (B.A., M.A., West Virginia University).
– Erin Durflinger – lecturer of education (B.A., Iowa Wesleyan University; M.S., Northwest Missouri State; Ph.D., Capella University).
– Lance Dyzak – lecturer of English (B.S., University of Wisconsin; M.A. and Ph.D., University of Tennessee).
– Brad Lampe – lecturer of music (B.M., Augustana College; M.M., Drake University).
– Mary Ross – lecturer of chemistry (B.S., University of Tennessee; Ph.D., University of Cambridge).
– Sean Stephenson – assistant professor of music (B.M., Millikin University; M.M., University of Missouri Kansas City; D.A., University of Northern Colorado).
– Taylor Welden – lecturer of education (B.A., University of Northern Iowa; M.A., Morningside College).
Emerita and emeritus status was granted to the following Central faculty:
– Robert Franks – computer science (B.S., Northwest Missouri State University; M.S. and Ph.D., Iowa State University). He started at Central in 1988 and was granted associate professor in 1993, tenured in 1991 and promoted to professor of computer science in 1999.
– Cathy Hinga Haustein ’77 – chemistry (B.A., Central College; M.A. and Ph.D., University of Iowa). She started at Central in 1983 and was named associate professor in 1989, tenured in 1989 and promoted to professor of chemistry in 1999.
– Mary Jo Sodd – theatre (B.A., College of St. Catherine; M.A., University of Minnesota; Ph.D., University of Colorado). She started at Central in 1996 and was granted associate professor and tenured in 2000 and promoted to professor of theatre in 2007.
