Both cross country and volleyball are on the Knoxville sports schedule today. The cross country squads head to Grinnell for what looks to be one of the more challenging meets of the season. Freshman Boys runner Isaac Rankin has won two of the first three meets this season and Coach Michael Splavec sees the boys running motivated to help out the team score at the end of the night.
Splavec: “They all are pretty motivated and want to get better and want to see us compete for meet. The sport of cross country is unusual because each kid wants to get their set of goal, but also wants to see the team do well and put all that together to contend.”
The girls look to improve their times after a 6th place finish last week at Wayne. First races are scheduled to get underway at 4:30. The class 4A #10 Knoxville Volleyball Squad heads to Davis County for another South Central Conference match. The Panthers registered a 2-2 day at Atlantic on Saturday and with a win tonight can set up a huge match next Tuesday with Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont which could be an early season showdown between ranked squads.
