Because of the Labor Day holiday, the Knoxville City Council met Tuesday evening. The council heard a presentation on a Parks and Rec Master Plan, and approved of naming a future park in the Veteran’s District “Veterans Park.” They also considered a proposal to place statues of historic sprint car drivers around the Knoxville square. No action was taken at this time on the statues.
They considered a Tax Increment Financing District for the proposed Ridge Development project located on the south side of Bell Avenue west of Highway 14 and it was approved. The proposed development would include building a race car repair shop, a storage/office building and a dentist office.
They also considered administrative plans relating to grants and grant requirements, among other matters. All of the grants were approved.
Also approved was the hiring of a Full-Time Records Clerk for the Police Department and Deputy Clerk for City Hall.
