The Knoxville Cross Country Squads ran in their toughest meet of the season so far at Grinnell on Tuesday. The Panther boys came away with a 9th place finish led by Isaac Rankin, who placed 9th individually in a time of 17:08. The girls placed 8th with Natalie Collins leading the way with a 23rd place finish in 22:58. The Panthers have the rest of the week off before heading to Oskaloosa next Tuesday.
Class 4A #10 Knoxville Volleyball squad fell to Davis County on Tuesday in four sets 3-1. The Panthers came out flat and lost set one 25-19, but seemed to respond in the second set winning 25-18. Knoxville was up 24-20 in set three with a chance to close it out, but the Mustangs rolled off five straight points, and Knoxville was unable to recover falling 27-25, and Davis County closed out the match in set four 25-18. Brittany Bacon had a stat filling night with 23 kills, 11 assists, 12 digs and went 14/14 serving with three aces. Emma Dunkin had four aces on 19/21 serving while Ella Breazeale was 16/16 from behind the serve line and Hannah Dunkin had 28 assists. Coach Mollie Keitges tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the one thing that may have been key for Knoxville on Tuesday has been something she has been concerned with so far this early season, and that is service errors.
Keitges: “I want to see a few less errors there, I would want to say improve everything if I were to get nitpicky, but serving would be the thing we need to dial in on.”
Knoxville is now 6-3 and will be off until next Tuesday when the Panthers host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
