During September, the Pella Public Library is celebrating National Coloring Day with a variety of coloring activities.

They have introduced a new set of upcycled Bookmarks to Color designed by community members and library friends – printed on old card catalog cards. As always, there will be blank cards in the set to design a bookmark – which can be colored on its own or returned to the library for inclusion in a future set to be offered.

This week, an autumn-themed, 6-foot by 2-foot tabletop coloring sheet will be set up for artists of all ages to gather around to color together. Other tables will have individual coloring pages available.

The library will provide supplies, or coloring enthusiasts may bring their own projects and find a quiet place to color alone or with a group of friends.

National Coloring Day has been celebrated on September 14 since 2015 to encourage people to take some quiet time that day to color, whether in a coloring book or on blank paper, and with any type of coloring implements from crayons to colored pencil to pastels.
