The Grinnell College volleyball team swept Central College 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 in a midweek non-conference tilt Tuesday night.
The Dutch (3-3) committed a total of 42 errors in the loss, including 17 attack errors. In the serve game, Central had 12 service errors and eight reception errors.
Outside hitter Natalie Gaszynski had a match high 10 kills, including six in the third set. Setter Adisyn Illg had 10 assists and libero Becca Vala had nine digs.
Central is in the Chicago area this weekend for three matches, starting with a 7 p.m. Friday night contest at Benedictine University in Lisle.
Central College strong safety Cameron Bannister was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s 31-13 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Bannister, who was named the American Rivers Defensive Player of the Week Monday, picked off two fourth-quarter passes. He also forced a fumble and made eight tackles, including five solos. He is the third Central player to receive the D3football.com citation this season.
Central (2-0) opens conference play at home Saturday with a 1 p.m. game against Loras College.
